Connect and control Google Home with Philips Hue - how it works
If you use Philips Hue lamps, you can connect and control the bulbs with Google Home in just a few steps. We'll show you how it's done.
Connect Phiilips Hue to Google Home
First, set up Google Home and the Philips Hue lamps separately. If both systems work in your WLAN, you can start:
- Open the Google Home app and select the menu in the top left.
- If you tap on the "Devices" category, it will search for available devices in the WLAN.
- If the Philips Hue is found, select the lamp and then tap on "Done".
- Tip: In the overview of the devices you can "define an alias" for each lamp. Name your lamps for example "lamp in the living room" and "lamp in the bedroom".
Control Philips Hue via Google Home
With the command "OK Google" or "Hey Google" the Google Home becomes aware. You can control your Philips Hue lamps from Google Home using the following commands:
- Switch "lamp X" on / off
- Dim "lamp X"
- Increase the brightness of "Lamp X"
- Set the brightness of "Lamp X" to 75 percent
- Turn off / on all lights
- Turn off the lights in "Room X"
- Change the color from "Lamp X" to red
