Google Calendar: Manage tasks in Thunderbird
It doesn't take much to manage the tasks and appointments from the Google calendar in the popular Thunderbird mail client. You only need two addons for Thunderbird and you're good to go.
The addons for a successful synchronization between Thunderbird and Google
You need these three helpers to be able to easily manage all tasks and appointments under Thunderbird:
- The Thunderbird calendar "Mozilla Lightning" and the add-on "Provider for Google Calendar".
- These two addons are enough to easily synchronize the appointments between Thunderbird and the Google Calendar.
- So that you can also edit your tasks both in Thunderbird and in the Google Calendar, you also need the add-on "Google Tasks Sync".
- How you integrate the individual addons in Thunderbird and then connect the Google Calendar with Thunderbird is described in great detail in the article Synchronize Thunderbird with Google Calendar - how it works.
- Tip: Before you install "Google Tasks Sync", you should check whether you have activated cookies in Thunderbird, as the addon cannot be installed with deactivated cookies.
This is how the synchronization between the Google calendar and Thunderbird works
After you have installed the individual add-ons, you can get started.
- To transfer the tasks from the Google Calendar to Thunderbird, you just have to make sure that you select the corresponding Google Calendar during synchronization.
- Then the tasks from Google Calendar appear in your task list in Thunderbird and you can edit them as usual.
- In addition to the times you have set in advance for the automatic synchronization between Thunderbird and the Google Calendar, the tasks and appointments can also be synchronized at any time. To do this, simply click on the "Synchronization" button in the menu bar or the icon above the task list.
