Activate Google Lens - Here's how
With Google Lens, you can call up useful additional information about the photos on your smartphone. This practical tip explains how to activate the practical feature.
How to activate Google Lens
Google Lens analyzes the content of your photos and shows the appropriate details. For example, animal breeds can be determined or information about sights can be queried. The function is part of Google Photos. The basic requirement is therefore that you have installed the latest version of the app for your Android or iOS device. However, there is a small limitation: So far, the device language for Google Lens must be set to English.
- Android: Open the "Settings". Select "Language and keyboard" and change the system language to English in the "Language" area.
- iOS: Open the "Settings". Select "General". Tap on "Language and region" and tick the box next to English in the "iPhone language" area. Confirm the selection.
- Google Lens is now available in the menu bar of your Google Photos app: select a photo and tap on the Google Lens icon. This shows a rectangle that surrounds a circle (see screenshot). Google Lens now shows you suitable information or actions for the recognized motif.
In the next practical tip, you will learn how to activate the Google Assistant. With this function, you have an intelligent helper on your smartphone at your side who answers questions of knowledge and enters appointments for you in the calendar.
