Set up a Google Mail account on Windows Phone 8
If you switch from Android to Windows Phone, you can still use Google's email service. In this practical tip, we will show you how to set up your Gmail account on Windows Phone 8.
Set up Gmail on Windows Phone 8
Open the start page on your Windows Phone by pressing the Windows button. Then follow these steps to access your Gmail mailbox:
- Tap the message tile - its icon corresponds to an envelope.
- You will now be taken directly to the selection of the various mail services. If this is not the case, for example if you have already set up a mail account, you must first tap on the three dots in the lower right corner and select "Add email account".
- In the fifth place you will find "Google". Select the mail service and then press "Connect".
- You will be taken to a login window in which you must enter the access data for your Gmail account. As soon as you have entered your data correctly, you can use Gmail on your Windows Phone.
Tip: Use Gmail contacts on Windows Phone 8
Once you sign in your Gmail account on Windows Phone, you can access all of your Google contacts. If your contacts aren't syncing automatically, follow these steps:
- Open your mail app and click again on the three dots in the lower right corner.
- Select the menu item "Settings" and then open the "Synchronization Settings".
- Place a check next to "Contacts" and choose how often you want your contacts to be synchronized.
