Google Maps: Create API Key - Here's how
To integrate a map from Google Maps professionally into your website, you need to create an API key beforehand. This enables your website to communicate with Google and the map is displayed correctly. This practical tip shows you how this works for your web, Android and iOS projects.
Create Google Maps API key for Android, iOS and web projects
Regardless of whether you want to program an app or integrate Google Maps into your website - with the API key, you can integrate map plans directly into your project.
- Log in to Google with your account information.
- Then go to the Google Maps developer page.
- Here you can choose between "Android", "iOS", "Web" and "Web Services".
- In the next step, click on the "Request key" button at the top right.
- Now you have to assign a name for the API key. This is also useful if you manage several projects and want to call the API key again later.
- After you click on "Create and enable API" your API key will be displayed.
- You can now insert this in the appropriate place on your website or app.
