Google Maps: Calculate gasoline costs
With Google Maps you can not only calculate routes, but also the gasoline costs. We will show you how to do this and which settings you can make here.
Step 1: Open the classic version of Google Maps
In the new Maps version from Google, the gasoline cost function is no longer available. Therefore, you have to switch to classic Google Maps.
- To temporarily return, open Google Maps, click on the question mark in the lower right corner and select "Back to classic Google Maps".
- If you want to work permanently with the classic version, confirm the notification above with "Yes".

Step 2: Calculate fuel costs in maps
Now you can calculate the gasoline costs for your route:
- Click on "Calculate route" in the left area and enter the start and destination.
- With "Add destination" you can insert one or more stopovers if necessary.
- Click on "calculate route" and choose one of the suggested routes.
- Now scroll all the way down in the left pane. Here you can see the approximate gasoline costs.
- With a click on the petrol cost display, you can set the vehicle type, fuel type and petrol price and thus refine your results.
