Google Maps: Change language - how it works
Place names are always displayed in German on Google Maps. However, you can easily change the language and use Google Maps in English, for example. We show how it works on the desktop and in the Google Maps app.
How to change the language in Google Maps
- First open Google Maps in the browser.
- Click on the menu icon with the three horizontal bars at the top left.
- In the menu on the left, go to "Language".
- In the selection, click on the desired language. Google Maps updates and then works in the new language.
Google Maps: Change language in the app
Unfortunately, you cannot change the language yourself in the Google Maps mobile app. The smartphone's system language is adopted here. We show how you can change the system language on an iPhone. In another post, we will also show you how to change the system language on Android.
