Google Maps logs your location history by default on your smartphone. You can find out how to deactivate this recording in the practical tip for both Android and iOS phones.
Android: Disable location history recording on Google Maps
- First open "Google Maps".
- Press the left softkey or the three bars at the top left of the search field to open the Google Maps settings window. There you select the "Settings" option.
- Scroll down a little to the "Location Services" section, which has the "Google Location History" option.
- If you tap this, a new window appears in which you can see your registered device.
- Now you can tap "On" in the top right corner so that the tab changes to "Off". This deactivates the recording of the location history.
- To delete the previous location history, tap on "Google Maps history" under "Settings" in the Google Maps app.
