Google Maps: Switch between street and satellite view

In Google Maps, you can switch to a satellite view in addition to the normal street map. We show where you can find the option on desktop and smartphone.
Change the view of Google Maps in the browser
- The change is very easy here: Just click on the square field "Earth", which is shown at the bottom left of the map.
- You can return to the normal view in the same way: Just click again on the field that now bears the label "Karte".
Show satellite view on the smartphone
- If you are on the start page of the Google Maps app, you will see a white-gray menu button at the bottom left. Tap on this to open the settings bar. Alternatively, you can also use the menu button on your smartphone.
- Now you can see the individual view options that you can show on the map. Tap on "Satellite" and the view changes.
- To return to the normal street map, simply press the "Satellite" field a second time.
