Google Music or Spotify - the music streaming services try to dig each other's water. We made a comparison between Google Music and Spotify for you.
The music streaming services Google Play Music and Spotify
Google Music, which was renamed Google Play Music in early 2012, or Spotify, the successful Swedish music streaming service - we've listed the differences and similarities for you.
- What both streaming services clearly have in common is the music. Otherwise, the concepts differ significantly.
- While you save and play your "own" music on Google Play Music, select one of the offered tracks or track lists on Spotify.
- Both music providers have both a free and a paid model, but they do not differ in cost.
This is what Google Play Music offers you
- In the free "Standard" version, you can save up to 20, 000 songs from your own music library and access them via the web as well as via Android and iOS devices.
- You can also purchase additional songs from the Google Play Store. After all, the offer includes more than 18 million songs.
- The paid "All-Inclusive" offer from Google Play Music costs you 9.99 euros per month. You can test the offer in advance 30 days.
- With the "All-Inclusive" subscription, you can save unlimited songs and Google also provides you with music recommendations that suit your taste in music.
- You can also create personalized radio stations with songs or artists of your choice in the paid version. In the standard version, this is unfortunately not possible with Google.
- You can pay for the all-inclusive service by credit card. If you want to cancel the all-inclusive subscription, you can always do so at the end of the month.
- Both the standard and the all-inclusive version are ad-free.
You can get this from the music streaming service Spotify
- The free version of Spotify is not ad-free. The service is financed by advertisements, but this is not so dramatic because the oral advertising is limited and does not bother you.
- You can use the music streaming service via the web as well as on the desktop, on your Android phone, iPhone or iPad, with the Windows phone, as well as some Meego and BlackBerry smartphones.
- With the free version of Spotify, you can create personalized radio stations and playlists. You will also find so-called toplists, for example for a wide variety of countries and artists, which you can play.
- The streaming service's music offering includes approximately 20 million songs.
- The premium version of Spotify, like the all-inclusive offer from Google Play Music, costs 9.99 euros per month and you also have the opportunity to test the offer without obligation for one month.
- The Premium version of Spotify is ad-free and is streamed at a significantly higher bit rate, namely 320 kbit / s. The free access, on the other hand, has to get by with a maximum bit rate of 160 kbit / s.
- One of the biggest advantages of the premium subscription is that you can listen to the music offline.
- In addition, as a premium member, you can also use Spotify's music offer abroad without restrictions. Free members must log back in to their home country after 14 days.
- PayPal and credit card are accepted as methods of payment. Another payment option is Kama. As with Google Play Music, termination of premium access from Spotify is possible on a monthly basis.
