Many owners of a Google Nexus 5 complain that the device gets too hot when used frequently. We show what is the reason and with which methods you can counteract this.
Nexus 5 gets hot quickly: these tricks help
- The Nexus 5 can run hot quickly, especially during the charging process. In this case, you should avoid running demanding applications such as games with high graphics performance.
- Before you call up an app that uses a lot of RAM, you should end running applications and, if necessary, wipe the card stack with the most recently used apps. If in doubt, simply restart your device.
- Do not leave your Nexus in the sun, especially in summer when the temperature is high - the car is also a bad place for your smartphone. The device also quickly overheats in the vicinity of radiators or under a lamp that emits heat as well as light.
- Even if you carry your Nexus 5 in your pocket and also in a cell phone case, there can be a significant increase in temperature. Here you should consider storing your smartphone elsewhere or changing the smartphone case.
- Overheating can also occur if services such as GPS are activated continuously. If you are not currently using your smartphone, you should prevent such services as a precaution.
- If the temperature increase has only occurred since you installed a new app, you should remove the app and observe whether the overheating still occurs afterwards. The app may use a lot of RAM.
- In some cases, the battery is worn out and therefore quickly gets hot - especially when charging. Then it helps to replace the battery.
- If the Nexus 5 overheats even when it is idle or under low stress, there may be a device error. In this case, you should send it in and even have it replaced if necessary.
