The voice assistant Google Now has voice commands for making calls. In this tip, we'll show you how to use this feature.
Call contacts by voice command
You simply ask Google Now to call a contact by voice command.
- "Call."
- "Call the cell phone from [...]."
- "I want to speak to [...]."
- "Connect me to [...]."
- "[...] call."
Special voice commands for Google Now for making calls
- If Google Now finds more than one suitable contact, you will be asked which contact you want to call. If you have selected the correct contact, a small loading bar appears. If it is full, Google Now starts the call. You can cancel the call by clicking on the small "X".
- You can also enter a name that is not saved in your contacts. Then Google Now automatically starts a search in Maps and selects the first hit. You will then have a few seconds to cancel the call.
Google Now requires at least Android version 4.1. An overview of other voice commands for Google Now can be found here.
