This practical tip explains how you can buy and top up Google Play credit.
How to buy Google Play credit
The credit for the Google Play Store is available online and offline. We'll show you where you can get it from. Please note that the credit on the cards is only available in 15, 25 or 50 euros.
- Offline: You can get the cards for example in many electronics stores as well as in supermarkets, drugstores or at petrol stations.
- Online: You can purchase prepaid cards on various websites, such as here. However, make sure that you buy the cards that are intended for your account. For example, there are credits for German, European or Swiss Google accounts.
Top up credit via the app
You can easily top up your credit using the app:
- To do this, start the Play Store.
- Tap to the top left to get an overview. Select "Redeem" there.
- Now a window opens in which you can enter the code. You either received it by email or saw it directly in the browser (online) or you can find it on the back of the card (offline).
- Finally, tap "Redeem" to link the credit to your account.
- Tip: Alternatively, you can simply select a paid app to purchase. You will then be asked to enter a credit card number or voucher code. Opt for the latter.
Top up credit via the browser
You can also top up your Google Play Store balance using your browser:
- To do this, go to the start page of the Google Play Store.
- Click on "Redeem Code" in the bar on the left.
- Now a window opens in which you can enter the code. Finally, press "Redeem".
