Google Play Music: Music as a ringtone - how it works
You can also set up music from the Google Play Music Store as a ringtone. We show you how it works.
How to set Google Play Music as a ringtone
If you purchased music from the Google Play Store, you cannot select it directly as a ringtone. But it works via a small detour:
- Open "Google Play Music" on your smartphone.
- Download the desired track so that you can listen to it offline. You can recognize saved tracks by the orange tick.
- You can find the downloaded music via the file manager under "sdcard / Android / data / com.google.android.music / files / music". The tracks are simply numbered. If you have multiple downloads in the folder, you can sort the files by "Arrange by" by date to find the track you just downloaded.
- Copy the music file you want to set as the ringtone and move it to the main SD card directory.
- Now open the title with the Android media player. In the menu you will find the item "set as ringtone".
If your downloaded songs don't appear in Google Music, we'll help you on the next page. These instructions refer to Android 4.2.2.
