Google Play Store: update errors in apps - what to do?
The Google Play Store sometimes reports an update error, so you cannot install or delete apps: "Error getting information from server: [RPC: AEC: 0]". This article shows you how to fix the problem and update apps again in the future.
1. Reset Google Play Store
Resetting the Play Store to an old app version helps in some cases to solve the update problem:
- Open the settings of your smartphone and then select "Apps" (or "Applications").
- Call up the "All" item here.
- Select the "Google Play Store"> "Uninstall updates" app.
- Confirm the warning and open the Play Store.
- The problem should be resolved and updates should work again. If not, follow the instructions in the next paragraph.
2. Sign in to your Google account again
If the first option did not work, there is another, but somewhat more complex, way to fix the error. Make sure beforehand that you have your Google Account login data. There is no data loss if you have synchronized all important data with your Google account.
- Open "Settings"> "Google Account".
- Select your Google account and then tap on "Remove account" in the app menu. Confirm the warning.
- Restart the smartphone and then go to "Add account"> "Google" in the settings.
- Follow the wizard for setting up the Google account and choose your previously used login data.
- After the synchronization is complete, you can open the Play Store. The update error should now be resolved.
After troubleshooting, you can now update apps and install new tools. Tip: If you are annoyed by the Play Store update notifications, find out here how you can turn them off.
