Manage Google Plus circles
Circles in Google Plus are quickly created. Managing them is not that easy. Google has hidden the settings for this well. We show you where to find them and how to assign people to them and how to remove contacts from them.
Create new circles on Google Plus
To create a new group of people, proceed as follows:
- Visit plus.google.com and log in with your Google account.
- Click on "Find people" in the left bar.
- Select the "My circles" tab above. Here you can see all existing circles including the assigned people.
- To add a circle, hover over the gray circle symbol on the far left. The label "Create circle" appears. Click on it.
- Name the circle in the new window (eg "Family", "Friends", "Colleagues"), enter a description if necessary and add contacts as you wish. You can find them in the same window by name or email address. Alternatively, first click on "Create Empty Circle."
Add people to Google Plus circles
To fill the empty circle, do the following:
- Go back to the circle overview. Here you can see all the people who are already in one or more of your circles.
- To assign an already added contact to another circle, simply drag it into it.
- If you do not yet have the relevant person as a contact, select "Add person" in the contact overview at the top left.
- In the new window, search for the contact's name or email address. Once you've found it, select it.
- Place a checkmark in front of each circle in which you want to have the person and click on Save.
Remove individual contacts from circles
If you want to remove a contact from a circle, for example because you accidentally added it there, proceed as follows:
- In the overview, select the circle you want to edit.
- Click on the small cross in the top right corner of the person you want to delete from the circle.
Delete complete circles again
No matter whether empty or filled - you can remove any circle:
- Click on the corresponding circle.
- Three symbols will appear on the circle. Click the right one in the form of a garbage can.
- A warning message will appear. Confirm this with "Delete circle".
