With the formula = googlefinance you can call up stock prices in Google Sheets. We will briefly explain how to use the command correctly.
Get stock prices in Google Sheets with = googlefinance
You can download various stock tools for a quick overview of the stock market. In so-called spreadsheets at Google Docs, the online counterpart to Microsoft Excel, you can call up and create your own stock price overview. All you need is the right formula and the right commands.
- Enter the following formula in a cell of your choice: = GOOGLEFINANCE (share; [attribute]; [start date]; [end date | number of days]; [interval])
- Share : Here you output the corresponding symbol of the desired share. In our example "GOOG" for Google.
- Attribute : Here you can choose from various parameters that you want to have evaluated. Below is an overview of all attributes. In our example we chose "price".
- Start date; end date : Here you can select the period. You can also use the Today () - Number of Days command. In our example, we consider the period from November 15 to December 4, 2019: In the formula, it looks like this: "November 15, 2019"; "December 4, 2019".
- Interval : This is optional, you can choose between daily (1) or weekly (7).
- Tip : You can also use the = sparkline command to display the value as a curve. In our example the command looks like this: = sparkline (GoogleFinance ("GOOG"; "price"; "15.11.2019"; "4.12.2019")
Share price attributes in Google Sheets
You can choose from many attributes to display stock prices in Google Spreadsheets. The most important parameters at a glance:
- "Price" - course in real time (is displayed with a delay of up to 20 minutes)
- "priceopen" - opening value of the course
- "high" - highest value of the course day
- "low" - lowest value of the course day
- "volume" - volume of the course day
- "marketcap" - share market capitalization
