Remove green cast from photos - how it works
A green cast in the picture looks unnatural and distorts the actual appearance. However, you can remove the color cast on the computer and save most photos from the trash. It works very easily with the right tool.
Remove green cast in pictures - that's how it works with GIMP
The free image editing tool GIMP is available for all major platforms and masters even more demanding adjustments in photos.
- First install GIMP on your computer. You can download it from our download area.
- Go to "File"> "Open" in GIMP and select the relevant photo from your hard drive.
- Then go to "Colors"> "Values" at the top of the menu bar. A new window is opening up.
- Set the "Channel" selection field to "Green". You can reduce the luminosity of green in your photo.
- To do this, drag the middle arrow of the source values to the right (see screenshot).
- The green cast should now disappear from the picture. Click "OK" when you are satisfied with the result.
