Overclock graphics cards with afterburner - how it works
With Afterburner you can easily overclock your graphics card. In this practical tip, we will show you how you can get more out of your hardware with the tool!
Here's how it works: Overclock the graphics card with MSI AfterBurner
With the free software "AfterBurner" from MSI you get more speed out of your graphics card. To do this, download and install the program.
- In Afterburner you will see various controls on the left: The most important ones for overclocking are "Core Clock (MHz)", "Shader Clock (MHz)" and "Memory Clock (MHz)". On the right hand side, on the other hand, you will find all measures and their effects graphically.
- To increase the chip or shader clock, you only have to move the respective controller. The shaders denote small computing units in graphics chips. For safety reasons, you should first increase each controller by a maximum of 25 MHz.
- To apply the new clock rates, click on the "Apply" button.
- For security, check your PC for stability after each setting. Simply click on the "K" symbol at the top left.
- If graphics errors or even crashes occur during the test, the setting is not stable enough and you have to change the clock rates again. Always carry out this stability test if you have made any changes. Otherwise you could force a hardware defect!
- If you want to reset your settings, simply click on the "Reset" button. The factory settings are already restored. Finally, you have to click "Apply" again.
- Note: The overclocking potential differs from graphics card to graphics card. Therefore, step through the limits of your graphics card step by step and refrain from importing the settings of others. Always keep in mind that with overclocking you risk a defect in the graphics card!
