Big cell phone mistakes: you should never do that with your smartphone
Although there are now an infinite number of smartphone advisories, major cell phone mistakes are still made, which in the worst case destroy the smartphone. You can see what happens when you expose your phone to excessive heat in the video. We have summarized four other large but easily avoidable cell phone errors in the article.
Big cell phone errors: overheating of the smartphone
Smartphones have become indispensable everyday companions for many people. It is therefore all the more annoying when the important data is suddenly gone or the cell phone suffers irreparable damage.
- Most people have probably already had the bad experience that cell phones fall down quickly. The cell phone display in particular is a particularly sensitive area.
- The idea of providing the smartphone with the most effective protection is therefore obvious. However, the problem is that in some cell phone cases, even in conjunction with an additional tempered glass film, the air may no longer circulate sufficiently or the heat can be properly dissipated via the housing. This primarily concerns covers that completely enclose the device.
- If it is very warm and your smartphone is in the hot car, for example, it quickly overheats. This can result in serious cell phone damage. Therefore, when buying smartphone cases or display films, make sure that enough air is still allowed through.
No cell phone updates: a mistake that can take revenge
Another big cell phone mistake is not to carry out the offered updates immediately.
- System updates are also very important for your smartphone; after all, updates often also close security gaps. If they remain open longer, attackers can use them to, for example, inject malware onto your device.
- Mobile phones without appropriate protective measures are a real feast for every Internet criminal. However, you have to bear the damage caused by malicious malware on your smartphone without the necessary protective measures. In the worst case, your carelessness not only costs you important data, it also means an expensive repair.
- It goes without saying that you do not open attachments from obscure senders and only go online via secure connections. We have put together a separate article for what you should do if you discover viruses on your smartphone.
A danger: public WiFi networks
Smartphones face similar dangers in open WLAN networks.
- In cafés or libraries in particular, we like to access the public WiFi network and risk being spied on.
- In unencrypted WiFi, it is not too difficult for criminals to hack and access your data. Occasionally, hackers even go so far as to create WiFi hotspots themselves.
- For this reason, inquire with the staff which network belongs to the café before logging in happily.
- You can also protect your smartphone by only calling up encrypted websites that you can easily find on the "https" in the address bar. Access via a VPN connection offers additional protection.
Beware of unchecked power supplies
If the previous errors were only dangerous for your cell phone, the following cell phone error can not only be dangerous for your smartphone, but also for yourself.
- You can experience a lot of surprises with cheap no-name mobile phone chargers, but none of them are pleasant. If the power supply gives up without a sound after a few uses, it is still the best thing that can happen to you.
- Frequently enough, however, smartphones that are charged with an unchecked power adapter are so severely damaged during the process that they can no longer be used. In some particularly dramatic cases, people were even harmed or killed. They suffered an electric shock when they held the smartphone in their hand while charging.
- Even a small thunderstorm can lead to overvoltage, especially with the unchecked power supplies. For this reason, you should not hold the smartphone in your hand while charging.
- Only charge the cell phone when you are nearby so that you can intervene quickly in the event of a cable fire.
- Place the smartphone so that the air can circulate freely during the charging process. Do not place the phone on blankets or the like.
- Always remove the charger from the socket as soon as the battery is charged.
- Note: If you need to buy a new charger, it is best to consult a specialist shop if you want to be on the safe side. Symbols such as the CE mark in particular are supposed to guarantee a certain minimum standard and thus protect the consumer, but are often falsified. If the packaging adorns the logo of the TÜV or a similar organization, this is a slightly better quality criterion, since these are not quite as well known in Asia.
