Groove: Upload your own music - so it'll work
With Microsoft Groove you can upload your own music and stream it on the go on your smartphone. However, the upload is currently a bit complicated. However, we will tell you a few tricks that will still work.
Upload music to Groove
Groove works with OneDrive, so you also need to upload your music to OneDrive:
- Open the "OneDrive website" and sign in with your Microsoft account.
- On the website click on "Files"> "Music" and then on the "Upload" button in the top menu line.
- Then select the music from your computer and wait for the file to upload. You can see the status in the top right corner. If the song has been uploaded successfully, it will appear in the list and also in Groove in your "Collection".
Manage your own music with Groove on your computer
To get all the songs in your Groove storage with the Groove app under Windows 10, you have to change one setting:
- Open the "Groove Music App" on your computer (for example via the search) and switch to the "Settings" using the menu and gear button.
- Under "Music on this PC" you can now select the OneDrive folder on your computer as the source to manage all music with Groove on Windows 10.
On the next page we show how you can only sync the music folder in OneDrive and save other files locally only.
