Repair Grub Bootloader - Here's how
Repairing the Grub bootloader on Linux is usually relatively easy. Grub is part of normal Linux installations. Therefore it is possible to restore Grub with any Linux installation medium. We show you in this article how to do it.
Repair grub with installation disk
You can easily repair Grub with the repair feature of the installation media. For this you need the installation medium for your respective distribution. If you no longer have this at hand, you can simply create a new one. You can find out how to do this in the video below and in this article.
- Create an installation medium. Be sure to use the correct version.
- Now start your computer and boot from the CD or USB stick.
- Select that you want to try the respective operating system.
- Open a terminal, enter the following lines and press Enter:
- sudo mount / dev / sda2 / mnt
- sudo grub-install –root-directory = / mnt / dev / sda
- Now Grub is repaired and then works again without problems.
