GTA 5: All tips for hunting
Without good tactics, hunting in GTA 5 becomes tedious: the prey escapes and pumas attack you. So that you don't throw your shotgun into the grain in frustration, take our hunting tips to heart.
Unlock Trevors hunting missions
To hunt in "GTA 5", complete the Cletus hunting missions with Trevor. This supports you with hunting tips and even pays money for your prey.
- After completing "The Nervous Ron" mission, a "?" Mission will appear on your map in the east of "Blaine County" at the "Sandy Shores".
- Your client is called Cletus and is a fanatical hunter. Master his practice mission. Then wait a while for Cletus to send you a message.
- Now go to Cletus again and the hunt can begin.
GTA hunting tip 1: insert your pipe
When you use the pipe, you attract animals that are now marked by red circles on your radar. So you know exactly where the animals are in your area. At the same time, you will receive an indication of the size of the animal: Small circles often represent wild boars, for example. Unfortunately, you cannot find birds with the pipe.
GTA hunting tip 2: watch out for the wind
The animals you want to hunt are known to all smell very good. Also because of Trevor's "disreputable" body care, you always have to move in the wind direction. The wind display in the lower right corner of the screen will help you. If the arrow is green, the wind is moving in the direction of travel. As soon as the arrow turns red, you should change your way.
GTA Hunting Tip 3: Take photos of the prey
The hunted animals will only earn you money and points if you take pictures with your smartphone and send the photos to Cletus. The more dead animals you see in the picture, the more money and points you will receive.
GTA Hunting Tip 4: Sneak instead of running
In addition to the good sense of smell, the wild animals all have excellent ears. So that you don't scare away your prey before the shot, sneak quietly through the hunting area. This works as usual by pressing the left analog stick. For longer distances, you can still position yourself with the quad.
GTA hunting tip 5: be careful, cougars
The pumas are nimble, aggressive and can kill you by turning their paws.
- Always look for small red circles in the radar - a sure signal for cougars.
- Peek around you before peering through the scope. The cougars attack without warning.
- Always have the quad near you. When the going gets tough, just dash off.
- To avoid the attacks completely, you can climb up the caravan from which you start the hunting missions.
- If the Puma attack is inevitable, the Shotgun is the most effective weapon to defend yourself.
