GTA San Andreas for Windows 8: mouse does not work
If the mouse does not work in GTA San Andreas under Windows 7 or 8, you are not alone with this problem. We'll show you how to solve it.
GTA San Andreas: Mouse does not work under Windows 8
In Windows 7 and Windows 8 in particular, you can often eliminate the problem using the compatibility mode. The game is faked as a much older version of Windows, which is still known to the game. This usually no longer works under Windows 8.1, but it is still worth a try:
- Open the installation path of GTA San Andreas. This is usually located in "C: \ Program Files (x86) \ Rockstar Games \ GTA San Andreas".
- Find the "gta_sa.exe" file here, right-click on it and select the "Properties".
- Go to the "Compatibility" tab above and activate the "Run program in compatibility mode for" option.
- Then select "Windows 98 / Windows Me" from the list and close the window with "OK".
- Now start GTA San Andreas via the file "gta_sa.exe", should the mouse work again. If not, follow the instructions in the next paragraph.
Windows 8: Solve mouse problems with GTA San Andreas
- Download the "dinput8.dll" file from the "dll-files.com" website.
- To do this, click on the "Download ZIP-File" button at the bottom right and select the latest version.
- Then open the downloaded ZIP file and copy the "dinput8.dll" it contains into the GTA installation folder.
- Now start GTA San Andreas, the file will be automatically integrated and the problem with the mouse will be solved.
