GWXUX: What is it actually?
- The GWXUX.exe file is a tool for downloading Windows 10. Microsoft has upgraded the tool to all computers with Windows 7 and Windows 8 some time ago.
- GWXUX can not only start the installation of Windows 10, but also constantly reminds you of it. In the following instructions we will show you how to fix the GWXUX error or deactivate the tool directly.
GWXUX has stopped working. Repair the program
Note: Here you can find out how to repair the GWXUX.exe file so that the error no longer occurs. If you do not want to install the upgrade for Windows 10 at all, we advise you to deactivate GWXUX directly. To repair GWXUX.exe, do the following:
- Press the [Windows] and [R] keys simultaneously so that the "Execute" command opens.
- Enter "cmd" here and confirm with "OK". Then the command prompt starts.
- Insert the "sfc / scannow" command here and confirm it with the [Enter] key.
- Windows is then searched for errors. As a rule, the GWXUX.exe is also repaired.
- When the process is finished, you can close the window again.
Instructions: Deactivate GWXUX completely
To deactivate, you only have to change some values in the Windows registry. Alternatively, you can use the free GWX stopper.
- Right-click on a free area of your desktop and select "Text Document" from the menu under "New".
- Open the file and insert the commands in the next paragraph (see picture). Now save and close the file.
- Rename the file to "GWX.reg". If you cannot see the file extension or cannot change it, follow these instructions beforehand.
- Then open the file with a double click and confirm the request with "Yes."
- You will then receive confirmation of the success of the measure.
