Hair gel in the test: winner at Stiftung Warentest
Stiftung Warentest tested a total of 15 hair gels in the September 2018 edition, which promised a strong hold. We show you the test winners as well as the bargains and flops.
Test winner of the Stiftung Warentest: hair gels with a very good hold
The experts examined how well the hair gels were suitable for styling, how long the results lasted and how easy they were to apply. In addition to the packaging and labeling, Stiftung Warentest also took a closer look at the hair gels with regard to the critical fragrance Lilial.
- The "Professional Osis + Rock Hard" product from Schwarzkopf (rating: 1.7) with the degree of hardness "Ultra strong 4" was the test winner. The best styling was achieved with this hair gel. The product also achieved very good results in terms of durability. The critical fragrance Lilial could not be determined. With a price of 6.95 euros per 100 milliliters, it is the second most expensive hair gel in the test.
- Second place went to the product "Balea Men Maximum Power Styling Gel" from dm (grade: 1.8) with the degree of hardness "Turbo-Halt 8". The hair gel offers very good hold and also does without the critical fragrance Lilial. With a price of EUR 1.03 per 100 milliliters, the hair gel is significantly cheaper than the test winner.
Styling bargains: good results for 57 cents
A total of four hair gels, at 57 cents per 100 milliliters, are the cheapest products in the test - and they are not too bad in comparison.
- Particularly noteworthy here is the product "Kür Styling Ultimate Hair Gel" by Aldi Süd (grade: 1.9), which is not only particularly cheap, but also ranks third in the test. The critical fragrance is also dispensed with here. Good and durable results can also be achieved.
- "Isana Styling Gel For Men" by Rossmann (rating: 2.6), "Elkos Hair Styling Gel" by Edeka (rating: 2.7) and "t. Today Power Gel Extreme Look" were also sold for 57 cents per 100 milliliters. tested by Rewe and Penny (grade: 2.7). They also convince with good styling results.

Loser in the hair gel test: product with critical fragrance and poor hold
Stiftung Warentest discovered a total of two products with the critical fragrance Lilial. One of them can be found in the last place:
- The product "Styling Gel Power" by 3 Wetter Taft (rating: 3.1) is the bottom of the test and, above all, could not convince with its liability. The fragrance Lilial contained further devaluation. With a price of 1.23 euros per 100 milliliters, it is still one of the cheap products of the test.
