Instead of using shampoo, you can also wash your hair with special hair soap. There are very different products for this, which are often organic and usually also suitable for vegans. In this article we show you what to look for when choosing.
Hair soap instead of shampoo - tips for buying
There are numerous products on the market that are identified as hair soaps and should benefit your hair wash. An example here is this organic soap or this vegan soap.
- So that the soaps are suitable for shampooing, you should especially look at the ingredients. It is important that the products do not contain palm oil or glycerin. The same applies to preservatives that should not have soaps that are specially designed for washing hair.
- With hair soap, on the other hand, you should pay attention to olive, castor or almond oil. Avocado or hemp oil is also recommended, as it nourishes the hair particularly well.
- It is worth testing various products to find the optimal hair soap for your hair type. Olive oil is particularly useful if you have dry hair. If you have oily hair, you should largely avoid using oily soaps. If you have dandruff, hair soap with castor oil is recommended.
- To support the organic idea, many hair soap manufacturers also do without plastic and pay attention to environmentally friendly packaging.
You should keep this in mind when washing your hair with soap
If you're used to conventional shampoo, switching to hair soap may be a bit of a challenge. This is the best way to proceed:
- Cut off a small portion of the soap that you want to use to wash your hair. You can store the rest of the soap outside the shower to benefit from it for a particularly long time.
- Moisten the hair and then rub the soap into the hair. Tip: If you put the hair soap in a small bowl beforehand and soak it, you will generate more foam when washing your hair.
- Then rinse the hair thoroughly and also follow the manufacturer's instructions. Depending on the product, it can make sense to rinse the hair with a mixture of apple cider vinegar and water or lemon and water. This is especially true if hard water with a lot of lime comes out of the pipes in your residential area.
