Hair soap recipe - that's what they need to make
Making hair soap yourself according to a recipe can become a passion if you experiment with different scents. You quickly not only created your own hair care, but also made nice souvenirs and great gifts.
Hair soap: simple recipe for beginners
You can easily make your own hair soap yourself if you use finished soap as a basis.
- Obtain the following ingredients: 300 g of core soap, 1 tablespoon of olive oil, 1 tablespoon of coconut oil (or other oils), 10 drops of essential oil, some water and herbs (basil, lemon balm, peppermint, rosemary) or flowers (marigolds, rose petals, cornflowers, lavender ).
- Provide one or more small molds for pouring the soaps. Silicone molds for ice cubes or biscuits such as mini muffins, for example, are well suited. The advantage: These result in handy little soap bars.
- If you want to mix herbs or petals into your soap, it's best to use dried ingredients. Fresh herbs could bring unwanted germs into the soap. So if you use fresh food, you should at least blanch it beforehand.
- Chop the flowers and herbs, cut them with a food processor, or mortar them very finely in a well-cleaned container. The small particles create a peeling effect in your soap.
- Cover the herb-flower mixture with some of the oil. Now let them steep for at least three hours.
- In the meantime, grate the soap. You can use a kitchen slicer, for example.
- Add a little warm water to the rasps of soap peu-à-peu and stir. Mix everything together until you get a viscous soap mixture.
- Then add the oil to the base. By the way, you can vary the fats and oils. We explain below which oil is suitable for which hair type.
- Add the essential oils of your choice as well as the herb and flower substance quickly and stir the whole thing thoroughly.
- Put the finished mass in the soap molds. The smaller these are, the sooner your soap will be ready. Let the soap dry for a few days to make it hard.
Effect of essential oils in hair soaps
Depending on which fragrance you love, choose your addition of essential oils. You can also add herbs and flowers according to your taste. You can let your creativity run free.
- Lavender oil : This flower oil soothes and has an antibacterial effect. As a result, the scalp flakes less and oily hair stays fresh longer.
- Peppermint oil: has a refreshing, circulation-promoting effect on the scalp and is slightly disinfectant. The scent also gives a real freshness kick in the morning shower.
- Rosemary oil : works against oily hair and dandruff. Positive for hair loss or thin hair.
- Tea tree oil : smells very intense. It helps with oily hair. It also has a disinfectant effect. Use it a little more sparingly than other essential oils, otherwise it can be very drying.
- Cedar oil : The right thing if you love a woody-balsamic note. It works against inflammation and soothes irritated scalp, for example for psoriasis.
- Lemon oil : with its citrus note, perfect for everyday hair soap. It also works against germs.
- Lemon balm : Soothing, refreshing and disinfecting at the same time.
The properties of the base oils
When choosing the base oils, there are different properties that you can take into account:
- Avocado oil : Above all, brings shine and care for dry hair.
- Safflower oil : Recommended for oily hair. Do not use it more than ten percent in your soap, otherwise it will make it too soft. It is best to combine it with coconut oil.
- Jojoba oil : Very stable oil that has nourishing and degreasing properties in your hair soap. Use it sparingly and in combination with another carrier oil, otherwise it will be too waxy.
- Coconut oil : A good choice for oily, flaky hair. In addition, it ensures good foaming and acts against inflammation.
- Olive oil : Suitable for all hair types, but best due to its mild nourishing properties if you have a sensitive scalp. Good moisturizing properties.
- Castor oil : ensures very good combability and good foaming when saponified. It is also said to promote hair growth.
- Shea butter : A guarantee for shiny hair, which also ensures that the hair is easy to comb.
