Store minced meat: tips for storage
Due to the large surface area, minced meat is particularly susceptible to germ formation and is therefore particularly perishable. In this practical tip, we show you how best to store minced meat.
Keep minced meat: you should pay attention to this
Minced meat tastes good and is particularly popular when cooking takes little time. This way you can prepare a delicious and nutritious meal in no time at all. We'll show you how to store minced meat properly.
- At best, transport the minced meat in a cooler bag immediately after purchase. This will prevent germs from forming on the way home.
- If the fresh minced meat is processed on the same day, you can keep it in the refrigerator at two to four degrees. Just take it out of the bag and pack the meat in an airtight can. This will prevent additional nucleation. At best, open the can about 30 minutes before processing the meat. The vacuum changes the taste of the meat, fresh air cancels the effect.
- If the minced meat has been stored in the refrigerator for a few hours, it is no longer suitable for raw consumption. It must now be fried completely, this is the only way to kill all bacteria.
- If the storage time is expected to be over twelve hours, cook the meat through beforehand. The meat core should reach an approximate temperature of 75 degrees.
- If the minced meat is only prepared the next day, it must be frozen. To make it freeze and thaw faster, portion the total amount into several small cans.
- If you have purchased packaged minced meat, be sure to pay attention to the expiration date and the specified storage temperature.
- The cold chain must not be interrupted for frozen minced meat. Once thawed, do not freeze it again.
