Hamachi: You have to open these ports
Sometimes the VPN client Hamachi creates problems by not being able to connect to the LogMeIn servers. Sharing certain ports can help. We'll tell you here which ports these are.
Enable ports for Hamachi servers in the router
The menu items for opening certain ports are often located in similar locations in the routers.
- Open the start page of your router in your browser, for example by entering the address "fritz.box".
- Go to the "Connections" option and from here continue to "Connection settings" or "Shares".
- Enable port 12975 for "TCP" and "UDP".
- Once you have saved the settings, Hamachi should be able to connect.
- You may also have to restart the router for the changes to take effect.
Unlock Hamachi in the firewall
If Hamachi is still unable to connect, the problem may also be with the firewall.
- To do this, switch off your firewall completely.
- You can access the Windows Firewall via the items "Start" -> "Control Panel" -> "System and Security" -> "Windows Firewall".
- There is the option "Turn Windows Firewall on or off" on the left side.
- If Hamachi can then establish a connection, you have found the solution.
- To use the firewall and Hamachi at the same time, you must add an exception to the Windows firewall or your firewall program.
This practical tip relates to Windows 7 and the FritzBox 7240. We will also show you how you can then play Minecraft in multiplayer via Hamachi.
