Use your cell phone as a DECT phone - how it works
If you want to use your cell phone to make a call over the landline, you can use it as a replacement for a DECT phone. We'll show you the options.
Instructions: Use your cell phone as a DECT phone
Since a cell phone does not have the corresponding DECT technology, you cannot simply connect and use it as a DECT phone. However, you can use your cell phone for IP telephony, which in the end has the same effect.
- To do this, however, you need a router that supports IP telephony. In addition, the manufacturer must offer an appropriate app that is also compatible with your router.
- If you use a reasonably up-to-date Speedport from Telekom or a FritzBox, chances are good. Calls from your landline connection to your smartphone land via the respective app.
- We explain in detail how this works in this practical tip. If you use a FritzBox, you will need these instructions for setting up the app.
In the next practical tip, we will show you what exactly is behind the term DECT.
