Use your cell phone as a landline phone: Here's how
If you would like to use your cell phone as a landline phone, this is possible in many cases with the appropriate app. We'll show you how to connect your mobile phone and router.
Use your cell phone as a landline phone: Anything is possible
The landline is slowly but surely dying out. Many people now have a flat rate telephone on their cell phones, so it is usually more cumbersome to use a landline phone. The costs for a call to the mobile network or landline network no longer differ.
- Nevertheless, the fixed network offers some advantages. Many landline connections no longer run over the actual telephone line, but over the Internet. With VoIP, landline calls are made in the best quality over the Internet.
- If you use your cell phone or tablet as a landline phone, you can actually do without the classic phone completely. Incoming landline calls land directly on your cell phone. With the appropriate app you can call the contacts from your mobile phone via the landline.
Instructions: How the cell phone becomes a landline phone
To take advantage of all of these benefits, all you need is a compatible router that supports VoIP. The technology has been around for several years, so that a router that has already had its day can still be used.
- Use a FritzBox from AVM, download Fritz App Fon for iOS or Fritz App Fon for Android.
- Telekom customers with a Speedport router use the HomeTalk app for iOS or HomeTalk app for Android.
- If you use an O2 connection, download the Digital Phone for iOS or Digital Phone for Android app.
- After the first start, the app and router are easily connected to each other. You can then use your cell phone as a landline phone if you are in the home WLAN.
If your router does not support this function, you can simply have your landline calls diverted to your cell phone.
