Mobile phone on the table: that's why you should rather leave it
We often put the mobile phone on the table in front of us, but you shouldn't do that in the future. A new study on the topic of smartphones revealed terrifying results.
That's why you shouldn't put your smartphone on the table
In a study with around 800 participants, scientists from the University of Texas investigated the influence of cell phones on our cognitive performance.
- First, the researchers divided the 800 subjects into three groups. One group stowed the smartphone in the bag, another put the cell phone in another room and the third group placed the smartphone clearly on the table.
- The scientists then carried out various cognitive tests with the participants. In doing so, they made an amazing discovery.
- The participants who had their cell phones on the table in front of them performed significantly worse in the test than the group whose smartphones were in another room.
- The scientists then concluded in their study that we are generally distracted by the cell phones as soon as they are close to us. This in turn leads to a significant reduction in our cognitive performance.
- The researchers even go so far as to claim that our ability to concentrate is already significantly restricted by the desperate efforts of the brain not to be distracted by the smartphone.
- In plain language, this means that as soon as your entire cognitive abilities are required, you should banish the smartphone from the room.
A silent SMS doesn't bother you at all. Still, it wouldn't be bad if you knew you got one. In the next post we have a tip for you.
