Check your phone for viruses: How to take the test
If you have detected unusual changes on your cell phone, you should check the device for viruses immediately. We'll show you how to do the test quickly and easily.
Current: Gooligan virus: Am I affected?
The Gooligan virus currently infects approximately 74 percent of all Android devices available on the market. So be sure to check whether your smartphone is also affected. That's how it works:
- Open the page of the security experts "Checkpoint".
- Enter the email address of your Google account here. Since the malware sneaks directly into your Google account, you can find out whether Gooligan has infected your phone.
- If your account has been hacked, you will need to reinstall Android. You should also change all Google passwords immediately.
- In general, it can't hurt to check your Android smartphone for viruses.
Anti-virus apps: Check Android phone for viruses
You cannot manually check your phone for viruses. For Android smartphones you will find numerous virus scanners in the Play Store. The applications check your phone and remove any viruses found. Then your smartphone is protected in the background by the virus scanner against the daily dangers on the Internet. If one of the following apps does not find what you are looking for, you can try a second application to be on the safe side.
- Avast Mobile Security & Antivirus
- Bitdefender Antivirus Free
- Kaspersky Internet Security
- Avira Antivirus Security
No virus found on mobile phone - what to do?
- If problems still occur after the virus scan and you can rule out other causes, you have to resort to more drastic methods. Only resetting to the factory settings helps here.
- In this process, all other data is lost with the virus. If you want to restore your apps and files quickly, we recommend that you create an Android backup beforehand.
