Mobile phone no longer receives SMS - it could be because of that
A variety of problems can cause your cell phone to suddenly stop receiving SMS. This guide shows you what you can do about it and how you can receive short messages again.
Mobile phone: SMS receipt no longer possible - you can do that
- First restart your cell phone and try dialing into the cell phone network again. Make sure you are in a place with good cell phone reception.
- In busy public places or in places where a large number of people are at the same time, the network may be overloaded. For example, text messages may be delayed in concert halls or football stadiums.
- Check whether you have blacklisted numbers or blocked calls. Depending on the provider, this also applies to text messages that may not reach you under these circumstances.
- You should also get an overview of the available storage space on your mobile phone and make sure that it is available in sufficient size. SMS should also be saved locally on your device, as the SIM card only has space for very few messages.
- Check whether only the SMS function is faulty. If you also cannot make calls, the SIM card may be defective. In such a case, try this in a second device to check the functionality.
- The other way around, there may also be a problem with your cell phone. To rule this out, insert a different SIM card into your device and restart it.
- If all the above steps do not help, contact the customer service of your mobile service provider. We will give you the contact details for Deutsche Telekom, O2, Vodafone and Base in separate practical tips.
