Dust and dirt settle into the openings of the cellphone speakers after just a few months. This not only disturbs the optics, but also the sound. This practical tip tells you what you should consider when cleaning.
Clean speakers from your cell phone and smartphone - how it works
With our tips, you can clean your speakers from your smartphone thoroughly and effectively so that the sound sounds perfect again:
- With smaller soiling such as dust, a small adhesive film is suitable to remove the dirt. Place it over the loudspeaker and press it down gently. Then pull it off again if a large part of the dust has disappeared.
- The home vacuum cleaner can also help with larger soiling. However, you should switch this to the lowest level and then slowly and carefully guide it towards the speaker. Excessive intake pressure can lead to damage.
- Alternatively, you can blow into the speaker to clean it up. Make sure you blow into the speaker as dry as possible. Moisture only makes removal more difficult.
- Even a fine, small brush is perfect for cleaning. You can often get deep into the small holes in the housing.
- If you don't have a brush on hand at the moment, you can also use an old, fine toothbrush. However, please note that this must be dry and do not press on too hard to avoid damage.
Cleaning cellphone speakers: you should never do that
- Even if it sounds tempting, you shouldn't use sharp objects to fish for the dust in the speaker chinks. In the worst case, this will damage the hardware.
- To be on the safe side, do not use damp cloths either. These can damage the speaker membrane and the hardware behind it.
- In the case of very stubborn soiling, you should instead use an eyeglass cleaning cloth to carefully clean the speaker. In general, however, you should avoid any kind of moisture.
Cleaning the inside of cellphone speakers - the best tips
Depending on the phone model, you can also clean the inside of the speaker or at least the case.
- To do this, switch off your smartphone and remove the back cover. Then remove the battery and all inserted cards for safety.
- Now you can carefully clean the speaker and the housing with a dry cloth or a fine brush.
- However, you should avoid the vacuum cleaner and the toothbrush due to the sensitive electronics.
