Connect cell phone to PS3 - how it works
When you connect your mobile phone to the PS3, you can use the console to display and play media content from your mobile phone on the television. In this practical tip, we explain which options you have, what you need and how it works.
The simplest variant: connect via USB
As a rule, the PlayStation 3 already recognizes every mobile phone when you connect it to the console via USB. Under certain circumstances you may have to switch the cell phone to mass storage.
- Once you've connected your phone to the PlayStation 3, the console should recognize your phone as a storage device. If your device is still not recognized, it may help to switch the smartphone to mass storage mode.
- With the triangle button you can then display all content on your mobile phone and play your pictures and videos. The same button also provides a menu that allows you to copy content directly to your PlayStation 3's system memory.
The alternative option: Connect your smartphone and Playstation via Bluetooth
- Start the system settings and select the item Peripheral device settings.
- All registered devices are now displayed under the sub-item "Manage Bluetooth devices". Select "Register new device".
- Make sure that Bluetooth is already activated on your cell phone and is visible to other devices.
- Now select "Start scanning from" on the PS3. After a few seconds, your cell phone and any other devices found should be displayed. Select your cell phone from the list.
- You may have to enter a passkey that will be displayed. In this case, just follow the instructions. Your cell phone should now be successfully connected to your Playstation 3.
