Cell phone radiation: it's so dangerous at night
For many people, putting their cell phones on the bedside table at night is an evening ritual, like brushing their teeth. Cell phone radiation is always suspected of causing cancer. We explain whether this is true and how dangerous the rays really are.
Dangerous cell phone radiation at night
It is now generally known that the cell phone emits radiation. Nevertheless, we always have it nearby and always want to have it within reach at night.
- The cell phone shines even when it is not in use. Rays are emitted even in standby or flight mode, albeit at a reduced intensity.
- There are various studies on cell phone radiation. Some researchers believe that radiation can lead to cancer, others say no.
- It has been proven that cell phone radiation can change the nerves in the brain. It is questionable whether this can lead to brain tumors.
- It has also been researched that radiation leads to oxidative stress in the body's cells. Stress hormones are released, which means that you can no longer relax properly. Burnout and constant fatigue should also arise from the cell phone radiation.
How to reduce the radiation from the phone
Think about whether you really need to have the cell phone always within reach. Maybe it is enough if it is in the room next door at night.
- Even if it does not completely prevent the rays: switch on the flight mode. This at least minimizes the radiation exposure.
- Just turn your phone off at night. You don't always have to be available. If you still want to be absolutely sure, you can set the ringtone of the mobile phone to the maximum volume and put the smartphone in the room next door.
- Pay attention to a low SAR value when buying a smartphone. The lower the value, the less radiation exposure comes from the cell phone.
- Get a landline phone with less radiation.
- You can also think of a specific storage location for your cell phone so that you don't always have to carry it on your body. For example, always put it on a cupboard in the hallway and only pick it up when you really need it.
