Cut cell phone video - a quick guide
You can cut a mobile phone video using software or an app to create a beautiful clip. In our instructions we show you how both options work.
1. Cut the mobile phone video on the PC
If you transfer a mobile phone video to your PC, you can cut it directly on the computer:
- Mobile phone videos are usually recorded on Android and iOS as MP4 or sometimes as MOV. If you connect your device to the PC with a USB cable, you can transfer the video files to your computer.
- To cut the videos, you need the free tool Free Video Editor.
- Load the video file into the "Free Video Editor", trim it accordingly and export the finished clip. Since the tool does not re-encode the videos, no time-consuming calculations are necessary.
- If you want to edit your mobile phone videos in addition to editing, Lightworks is a comprehensive and free software for this.
2. Cut the mobile phone video on the smartphone
Alternatively, recorded mobile phone videos can also be cut directly on the smartphone:
- You already have a function pre-installed on Android. Open your video for editing in the gallery app.
- Then click on the menu button and select "Crop".
- Use a slider to set the sequence you want to cut.
- As soon as you have cut the video, you can save it on your device with the "Save" button and share it with your friends.
- You can get a wider range of functions with apps from the Google Play Store. We recommend the VideoShow application, which offers extensive editing functions and effects for your video.
- To cut videos on iOS, use the iMovie app.
