You can make hemp milk yourself quickly and easily. It not only tastes delicious, but is one of the healthiest cow's milk alternatives and is perfect for allergy sufferers. With these tips and tricks you are guaranteed to get the right preparation.
You need that for a liter of hemp milk
You can use two different types of hemp seeds for hemp milk: shelled hemp seeds and unshelled hemp seeds. We explain to you what to look out for.
- For a liter of homemade hemp milk, you do not need more than a liter of water, 100-120g of peeled hemp seeds (about 10 tbsp) and optionally a little sugar (1 tsp) or another sweetener.
- Put everything in a blender and mix the ingredients for about two minutes until a milk-like liquid is created.
- Alternatively, you can also use unshelled hemp seeds. These give the hemp milk a somewhat nuttier taste.
- Follow the same steps as with peeled hemp seeds. After mixing, you should filter out the hemp seed residues from the hemp milk with a nut milk bag.
- To do this, simply put the nut milk bag over a container and pour the hemp milk into it. Then wring the nut milk bag out over another container.
This is how you can give hemp milk a special taste
If the basic variant of hemp milk tastes too boring to you or you want a little variety, you can further refine the drink with various ingredients.
- As already mentioned, you can use hulled hemp seeds for a nuttier taste. Unpeeled hemp seeds give the hemp milk a milder taste.
- If the taste of the hemp milk is too intense for you, you can simply dilute the milk with a little water.
- As an alternative to sugar, you can use natural sweeteners: dates (3-5 dates per liter of milk), honey or syrup (e.g. date syrup, sugar beet syrup, agave syrup or maple syrup).
- You can also add vanilla to the hemp milk. Vanilla does not sweeten milk as much as syrup, but gives it a pleasant aroma. For a liter you can use half to whole vanilla pod scraped out. Vanilla powder is of course also possible.
- A little cinnamon in the hemp milk tastes good for a special aroma.
- If you're not a fan of sweet milk, you can top it off with a pinch of salt.
