Hard reset on the Samsung Galaxy S4
If you have problems with your Samsung Galaxy S4, a hard reset may be necessary. Your smartphone will be reset to its factory settings.
Hard reset via the settings
You can reset your Samsung Galaxy S4 in a few steps using the "Settings" item. During this process, your Google account, personal data (e.g. emails, calendar entries, contacts, SMS) as well as downloaded apps and settings will be deleted.
- Open the "Settings" item on your smartphone. Select "Accounts" in the top bar and then "Backup & reset".
- Tap "Reset to factory settings" and then "Reset device". Finally, confirm with "Delete all".
Hard reset using the hardware buttons
If your Samsung Galaxy S4 no longer boots properly, you can also trigger a hard reset using the hardware buttons:
- Press the "LAUTER", "ON / OFF" and "HOME" button at the same time and hold down all three buttons.
- Wait for the Android logo to appear on the screen, then release all three buttons.
- Press the "LEISER" button to select the "wipe data / factory reset" item. Press the "Home" button to confirm.
