Galaxy Note 7: soft reset
If your Samsung Note 7 stops responding, a simple soft reset usually helps. No data will be deleted.
- Press and hold the volume down and power buttons for about ten seconds.
- The device should now restart and work as usual.
Hard reset: Reset Galaxy Note 7 via the menu
A hard reset deletes all data from your Galaxy Note and resets all settings. You can perform a hard reset using the menu or a key combination. We first explain how to reset the device in the menu:
- First call the "Settings".
- Select the "Save and reset" item.
- Then go to "Reset to factory settings".
- Trigger the reset by tapping "Reset device" and confirming that you agree to the deletion of your data.
Hard reset: Reset Galaxy Note 7 using a key combination
- Press the volume up key, the power button and the home key at the same time. When the Samsung logo appears on the display, release the buttons.
- In the following menu, navigate to the entry "wipe data / factory reset" with the volume down button and press the power button to confirm.
