Hearthstone: The Warlock Guide
In this warlock guide for the Blizzard game Hearthstone, we introduce you to the magician class. The warlock's way of playing is based on reacting to the opponent and making life difficult for them with nasty cards.
The warlock and his spell cards
With the warlock you should always be able to react to the opponent and counter with a suitable answer. You can do this with so-called crow control cards, which destroy opposing servants or disable them. You can do this with magic cards such as "Shadow Bolt", "Acidic Mud" or "Worldly Fears". This way, you can destroy your opponent's strong defense cards. To frustrate your opponent properly, you also have the Hellfire card in your deck twice. This deals 3 damage to all characters. Your servants will also be injured, but this will destroy the enemy's entire army. You can also control your opponent with the following cards:
- Shadow Bolt: "Inflicts 4 damage to a servant."
- Acidic Mud (3/2): "Destroy your opponent's weapon."
- Worldly fears: "Inflicts 1 damage to a servant. Draws a card if it is destroyed."
- Hellfire: "Deals 3 damage to ALL characters."
- Drain Soul: "Destroy a servant. Restore 3 lives to your hero."
- Shadowflame: "Destroy a friendly servant and inflict damage on all enemy servants that match his attack."
Lots of cards on hand
Your warlock deck is largely made up of cards that cost only a few mana crystals. It is therefore important to always have many of these on hand. This means you can always react to your opponent's actions. With cards like "Nat Pagle" and your hero ability, that shouldn't be a problem. With the hero ability, you sacrifice 2 lives, but you can then draw a card. To stay alive, you also have cards in the deck that give you life, such as "bloodsuckers" or the aforementioned card "withdraw soul". You also have mock cards in your deck for proper defense.
- Nat Pagle (0/4): "At the end of your turn there is a 50% chance that you will draw a card."
- Bloodsucker: "Deals 2 damage. Restores 2 lives to your hero."
- Argent Commander (4/3): "Rush, God's Shield"
- Void converter (1/3): "ridicule"
- Schildmeista von Sen'jin (3/5): "ridicule"
The warlock deck presented here is for guidance only. Of course, you can upgrade the deck with other cards. Nevertheless, your strategy should be such that you can always react to the opponent. This is ensured by many cards with low costs. If you're more of a fan of strong defense, check out this class guide on the Paladin.
