Delete homegroup icon from the desktop
If a homegroup icon appears on your desktop without you wanting it, you cannot simply move it to the trash. We'll show you how to delete the icon from your desktop. This practical tip relates to Windows version 8.1, but the same procedure also works under Windows 7.
Delete homegroup icon on desktop
You can delete the homegroup icon directly from your desktop.
- Right-click on your desktop.
- Select "Customize, " then click "Change desktop icons" on the left.
- If the entry "Control Panel" is not activated under "Desktop Icons", check the box and click "Apply". Then go to step 4.
- Remove the check mark at "Control Panel" and confirm with "Apply" and "OK".
