Avira AntiVir CPU usage - what to do?
Avira AntiVir is designed to protect you from harmful programs. But what if the program causes high CPU usage? The solutions to the most common causes can be found in this practical tip.
AntiVir: High CPU utilization - basic information
First of all, you should find out the reason for the high CPU usage:
- To do this, open the "Task Manager". To do this, right-click on the taskbar in the context menu to select "Task Manager" or use the key combination [CTRL] + [Alt] + [Del]. Then select "Start Task Manager" in the selection screen.
- There, switch to the "Processes" tab. Sort the list by clicking on "CPU".
- The top entry or the one with the most CPU is responsible for the load.
- Right-click on the entry and select "Open file path". This is how you can uninstall the affected program.
High utilization of the CPU by Avira AntiVir
If you have found Avira AntiVir as the reason for the load, follow the instructions below:
- Open Avira and deactivate "Browser protection" in the main menu.
- Then check for updates. To do this, click on "Update"> "Start update ..." above.
- Then restart your PC.
- After the restart, open the "Control Panel" and switch to "Programs and Features".
- Search for another antivirus here and uninstall it completely.
- It is advisable to use Revo Uninstaller, as this tool deletes all remains of the program.
