Homebrew on the Nintendo 3DS - how it works
For example, to change the background of your Nintendo 3DS, you need the Homebrew Channel. You cannot start the unauthorized software without a hack on your console. We'll show you how to set up the channel on your Nintendo 3DS.
Install Homebrew Channel on the Nintendo 3DS: The preparations
You can install the Homebrew Channel on your Nintendo 3DS in just a few steps. First, however, you should go into the settings and make a note of the version number. Then turn off your 3DS and remove the MicroSD card.
- First, download a homebrew starter kit from the Internet. Extract the ZIP file and save the "3ds" folder and the "boot.3dsx" file on your SD card.
- Then go to the GitHub page for the homebrew channel and scroll down until you get to "Otherapp / ropbin payloads". Select your version number here and finally click on "Download otherapp". Save the downloaded file on your SD card and change the name to "otherapp".
- Finally, you have to select your 3DS on the SoundHax homepage and click on "Download M4A". Save this file on your SD card too.
Nintendo 3DS: Install Homebrew Channel
Now that you have made all the necessary preparations, you can insert the MicroSD card back into your Nintendo 3DS and start it.
- Open the "Nintendo 3DS Sound" channel. Navigate here to your MicroSD card and tap on the downloaded sound file from SoundHax.
- Now you can use the Homebrew Channel as normal on your Nintendo 3DS.
