How to program the Homematic
A smart home is no longer a wish for the future, but the current trend. Before your devices are connected to each other, they must be commissioned first. You can do this with the following steps:
- At the beginning you have to connect your Homematic IP Access to the power cable. Then connect it to your Fritzbox using a LAN cable. The control lamp now flashes green.
- Then you have to install the app on your smartphone. The device number is identified by scanning the QR code on the underside of your Homematic IP Access Point.
- At the same time, the app connects to the cloud server and guides you step by step through the integration of all Homematic devices. You really can't go wrong with the setup.
- Once programming is complete, you can control and monitor the installed devices via the app. It is also possible to send voice commands via Google Home or Alexa.
Data protection when using Homematic IP devices
Data protection is a frequently discussed topic in connection with setting up Homematic IP in a smart home. We explain what you need to know:
- Basically, all smart home providers promise that they will comply with the data protection regulations and that they will not disclose any private information.
- However, since technical errors can always happen, it cannot be ruled out that data from you will not leak out. Such cases have so far been the absolute exception.
- Most providers require a user name and password to use special services so that they can be identified. In addition, the data connection is usually encrypted. This is another protection factor.
