Update Honor 6 - how it works
Huawei releases updates for the Honor 6 at regular intervals. So that you always use the latest version of Android, you should update your smartphone regularly. In this article, we reveal how this works and how you can get future updates now.
Update Huawei Honor 6
Unless you have changed the standard settings, you will receive a notification as soon as a new update for the Honor 6 appears. If not, you can also check for updates manually:
- To do this, open the Settings app on your smartphone.
- Then scroll down a bit and select the "Update program" entry in the "System" section.
- Here, tap on "Check for updates". If a new Android version is available, it will be downloaded automatically.
- Start the update program via "Install". Be sure to wait for the process to complete and do not turn off the device.

Honor 6: Install new Android updates manually
New Android versions are only gradually distributed to users. It may therefore be the case that you cannot find an update via the update program, although an update is available. If you want to test the new version immediately, install the update manually:
- To do this, open the Huawei website and look for the latest update for your device from the list. Important: Make sure that the first six digits of the update name correspond to the model name of your device. For owners of a German Honor 6 this is the string "H60-L04".
- Then unzip the downloaded ZIP file.
- Connect your smartphone to your computer via USB and copy the "dload" folder into the main directory of your phone memory. Make sure that the folder contains a file called "Update.app".
- Now start the settings on your mobile phone and tap on "Update program" under "System".
- There you select the option "Menu" at the bottom and then "Local Update"
- Then tap on the "Update.app" file and wait for the latest version of Android to be installed.
- Note: If you have successfully installed the update, you cannot go back to a previous version. Therefore, only use final releases and refrain from beta versions.
If there are any problems after the update, you can reset your Honor 6.
