Windows 8.1: Set up WiFi hotspot
- In the Windows 8.1 search, enter "cmd.exe" to open the command line.
- Enter the command "netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode = allow ssid = network name key = WLAN password". With the parameter "Network name" you can select any name for the WLAN network. After "key =" you set the password for the WLAN.
- Then you have to enter the command "netsh wlan start hostednetwork" to start the WLAN hotspot.
- Open the control panel using the search function and select "Network and Internet".
- Click on "Network and Sharing Center" and select "Change adapter settings" in the left margin.
- Then open the context menu with the right mouse button on the internet connection that you want to use for the WLAN hotspot. Select the "Release" tab here.
- Check "Allow other users on the network to use this connection from your computer as an Internet connection" and select the hotspot you created earlier.
- Note: These instructions only work if your network card supports hosted mode.
