HP printers don't scan - it could be because of that
In addition to a simple print job, most printers can also scan documents. However, if your HP printer is not scanning, this may be due to the fact that your PC did not recognize the printer correctly. In this practical tip, we will show you step-by-step how you can fix this and other possible problems.
HP printers don't scan - so fix the problem
You have often solved this error quickly with just a few simple steps:
- First, make sure the printer is properly turned on and ready.
- If you have connected it to the PC via USB, you should check here whether the cable is correctly connected and has no defects.
- To do this, open the "Control Panel" on your PC and switch to the "Printers" view.
- In order for the printer to communicate with your PC, you need the latest driver. To check whether you have installed it, open "Hardware" from the "Control Panel".
- Your HP printer must be listed there with "Ready". However, if there is an "offline" there, you should check the connection.
- If the driver for the scanner or printer has not yet been installed, this will be displayed here. You can then either insert the data carrier with the driver or search for drivers on the Internet.
Other solutions: HP printer does not scan
- It often helps if you briefly switch the printer off and then on again.
- If you still have a free USB port, you can use it as an alternative.
- If the printer has been connected via WLAN, you should make sure that the WLAN function is activated on the printer and that the printer is connected to your PC.
